2 Thessalonians 2:1 - 3

The Apostle Paul prophesied that there would be a "falling away" of truth BEFORE the second coming of Jesus Christ. This "falling away" is what we know today as The Great Apostasy:

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the cday of Christ is at hand.
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of dsin be revealed, the son of perdition...

- 2 Thessalonians 2:1 - 3

The church of God (1 Cor.10:32), Jesus’ living body (Col.1:24) will fall away from deception first (2 Thess.2:3-4, Eph.4:14) before the son of perdition (Re.11:7, Re.17:8, Re.17:11) is revealed.

Note 2 Thessalonians 2:6: "in his time". The son of perdition will be revealed “in his time”. His time will occur when he ascends from the bottomless pit after the bottomless pit has been opened. The bottomless pit will be opened at the Fifth Trumpet, the First Woe (Re.9:1-2). Until the son of perdition ascends from the pit (Re.11:7, Re.17:8, Re.17:11, Jn.17:12) it is not "his time".

Hi Patricia!

Sorry for the late reply, as I had been pretty busy. Thank you for stopping by to comment on my post! :-)

Your interpretation of the scripture I posted is very interesting. I'm hoping you will be able to elaborate more on this, seeing as I'm having trouble understanding how the church of God will be "falling away from deception" when many men of God in the early Christian church were constantly trying to get the early Saints to get back on track (John's letter to the 7 churches in Rev. 2 was the first scripture that came to mind when I read your post. Other examples are Paul's letter to Timothy of the importance of teaching true doctrine (1 Timothy 1 & 4, 2 Timothy 1:15), Titus 1:16, James 4, and Rev. 3:14 - 16, to name only a few).

For me, all of this reads that there was definitely a falling away from TRUTH and LIGHT that was going on, rather than a falling away from DECEPTION. The fact that we see so many different religious denominations today, when the Bible clearly states that the church of Christ was definitely ONE BODY, as pointed out in the same chapter of Ephesians that you mentioned (Eph 4:5, 11 - 14), also indicates to me that there were definitely dissensions arising in the early Christian church, causing more people to fall away from the main body and create other churches, rather than become more unified in the fight against deception....

I am however open to all opinions... :-)
